Record December

The past month has confirmed that we will see a record-breaking season. Nightly rates and occupancies for December are at all-time highs and we are all but booked out for the Xmas and New Years period. We are adding a few more properties before the end of the year so there will still be an opportunity to book with us for the holidays. 

New Apart Hotel in JHB

We are excited to be opening our first Apart Hotel in JHB. The building is located in Rosebank and will have a total of 42 self-catering apartments (a mix of studios, 1 beds and 2 beds). Twelve apartments will still go live in December with the balance opening their doors in Jan/Feb. More information to follow once we are live. 

Plum Guide

We are seeing more and more international bookings made through our Marriott Homes & Villas partnership which is encouraging. In addition, in the past month we have listed our properties on Plum Guide which handpicks the world’s best vacation rentals, holiday homes and Airbnbs. We are thrilled that more than 75% of our properties were approved on the site which was the highest approval rate of any host management company in the Middle East & Africa and speaks to the quality of our properties and photography. We are always working on extending the platform reach and marketing of our properties and we will be announcing a further platform integration with a local company early in the new year. 

Durban Launch Update

We announced last month that we will be offering our full short-term rental management service to property owners in Ballito and Zimbali. The initial interest has been overwhelming and we are in the process of onboarding our first properties, some of which may already go live in December. We have a great team on the ground and have central offices in Ballito.

Property Sales

The demand for short-term rental properties in the R1.5m-R2.5m bracket has skyrocketed. We started offering property sales a few months ago (mainly to our clients) and after launching the “agents” and “sales” pages on our website we quickly built up a new database of buyers looking to invest in high-yielding properties. It quickly became clear that a large portion of the market, while keen to invest, struggled to assess whether properties were good short-term rental investments. In response, we created this guide to buying short-term rental properties: and we now actively consult buyers to help them identify good investment opportunities.
